“True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the Country.”
(Kurt Vonnegut, circa 1990)
I took the liberty of updating Vonnegut’s quote with a few more contemporary variations:
- “The true nightmare is not the end of the world—it is realizing the kids who failed history are now rewriting it, one executive order at a time.”
- “The real horror isn’t monsters under the bed—it is waking up to find your former classmates, who once cheated off you in biology, now control the nuclear codes.”
- “True dread is discovering the class clowns are now steering the national agenda—and still think it is a joke.”
