The blog you are consulting was born out of this daily ritual: it is a collection of my daily short posts, with additional comments; it is an extension of my personal reflections, a curated collection of thoughts, aphorisms and inspirations drawn from my work experiences and cultural heritage.
Although my cultural roots are undeniably Italian, they are also German by family (my father was a Germanist, my mother is German), and English and French by cultural choice.
Therefore, this blog is not limited by national cultural boundaries: I write with all the Friends from all over the world asking me about Italy and Italians in mind; thus, I have aimed at a global audience, with the intention of interacting with readers far beyond the Mediterranean.
As an Italian, I often draw on the deep historical and cultural heritage of my country.
Italy is a land of paradoxes: rooted in ancient traditions, but always in the process of reinvention; serious in its philosophy, but unafraid of irreverent humour; a global symbol of art, beauty and cuisine, but also a country of warm and affable humanity.
These elements emerge in many quotes, offering a glimpse into the Italian way of seeing the world. However, the blog is also consciously oriented towards a non-Italian audience to ensure that the ideas presented are accessible to all, even when their roots are not in Italian culture.
Each post is a fragment of that ongoing dialogue I have tried to maintain with myself and those who read me, an opportunity to give shape and depth to those insights that, day after day, come to life.
To achieve this, I choose to provide explanations where necessary, often offering context or rephrasing ideas to fill language and cultural gaps. At times, posts adopt a colloquial tone, inviting dialogue rather than providing ideas from the podium. This informality is intentional, aiming to make the wisdom contained here feel alive, relevant and engaging, rather than distant or esoteric.
You may encounter echoes of ancient philosophers such as Seneca and Cicero, alongside the edgy humour of contemporary wisdom.
Italian (… and, better still, Sicilian!) proverbs, with their vivid imagery and genuine pragmatism, stand alongside modern aphorisms and truths of universal resonance.
This mixture reflects my belief that wisdom transcends borders and time: it is as likely to be found in a random Sicilian saying as it is in the words of a Nobel laureate in literature.
