This post is a challenge — against yours truly!
I came across a Facebook post about the art of insults, especially in British English, quoting Shakespeare’s delicious volley:
“You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian!”
Henry IV, Part 2 (Act 2, Scene 1)
So … I tried to craft equivalents in other languages I know. Here is my attempt:
Italian: “Poltrone! Sciagurato! Bazzotto!”
German: “Schuft! Hallodri! Tunichtgut!”
French: “Faquin! Sacripant! Maraud!”
Now it is your turn.
Would you like to join the game and propose exotic insults in any language of your choice?
Once I gather enough contributions, I will publish a grand summary of the finest insults across cultures!erò un riassunto con i migliori insulti da ogni cultura!
